Re: Antenna Distance Abilities

I've read about this signal blocking phenomenon a while ago, and it turns out that in places where the soil is rich in metallic minerals it can leach into plants and trees, causing a stronger signal blocking effect than in non-mineral rich places. It actually makes logical sense, as I have experien...

Re: Antenna Distance Abilities

The problem with signals at longer distances, it can vary with the air's ionization, humidity, clouds, rain, snow, blooming trees, etc. So just because you may get a great signal on a nice clear summer day, you could also get really crappy signal on a humid rainy/snowy day. Generally, a high qualit...

Re: Antenna Distance Abilities

Hello all, I have set up 4 LTE setups now. All times have used either log periodic directional antenna or proxicast mimo panel antenna. Every time it has been just under 5 miles or just over 5 miles. Know someone else that would be 5.85 miles away. Not sure if this would be getting to far away at t...

Re: Is there a such thing as a "dead" spot with certain Carriers???

that's very interesting, must have been causing some multipath destructive interference. Typically with LTE you'll want some obstructions and not just clear LOS because then you can take advantage of MIMO better. This is a complicated topic, and counter intuitive to what one would expect.

Re: Multiple LTE Modems

Noone's forcing you to, I just wrote about the options for those who may want to consider it. ;) The whole idea behind it, is for those who prefer the main router to be inside the home for easier access for testing, tweaking, etc. I have a question for you, by running a diag command on both the mod...

Re: My 4G setup/project

I just noticed the latency in general was higher with the Rpi vs my Mofi4500. It could be something else though, time will tell... I can't imagine you could notice a 10ms latency. I'd suspect something else was going on. I think a human can only notice a latency as low as about 250ms or above? I've...

Re: My 4G setup/project

Those errors seemed to be adding ~10ms of latency for me. I eliminated them by adding the following commands to the Local Startup. It sets the min/max scaling frequency to the maximum so the processor always runs at full speed. Note that I'm using an Rpi3B+ which runs at a max of 1.4GHz, yours may ...

Re: Multiple LTE Modems

Oh right, you have all your gear up on the roof in an box. Hmmm... so the purpose of putting everything up there is to minimize the RF signal loss in a long coax cable run, but then you could just put the radio modem up there by itself with a long active usb extension cable (though you'll need to r...

Re: Antenna Comparison Review (Lots of antennas inside)

The high mount antennas makes a great lightning rod. xD Jokes aside, I wouldn't dare put them up higher than any other nearby metallic object even with the best built-in lightning arrester, while the other end of the antenna cable is connected to the router sitting right on my work desk. Yikes! Yea...

Re: MoFi 4500 and AT&T

Are you connecting via wifi to the Mofi or ethernet? Try a direct ethernet connection if not, and run some speed tests.
