WiFiX Firmware for WE826 | WG3526 | WE3926 | WE1326 | WE1026-5G | WE3526
The WiFiX custom version of GoldenOrb (aka, ROOter) firmware is available for download HERE.
THIS WE826 firmware supports the Sierra Wireless MC7354 or MC7700.
Some users report issues with Connection Monitoring on the WiFiX firmware. It appears to happen, at least from our preliminary testing, when a modem in used in QMI mode. Those experiencing issues that cannot be resolved, might try a stable build of GoldenOrb which can be downloaded from HERE.
Note: Since the stable versions of GoldenOrb are of an earlier kernel, the downgrade from the WiFiX (or other later kernel firmware) may require using the Boot Loader Menu.

Hey Jim have you tried out the wg3526 version of your firmware? I'm assuming it's the same 8-17 firmware that was posted in the upload folder of Rooter (http://ofmodemsandmen.com/upload/). I tried it and it won't let me past the splash screen. It errors out and won't let me login. The splash screen works fine, but I had to flash back to 8-14 with no splash screen to get into the actual rooter menu. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Yes, there is a Read Me text document that, among other things, addresses this issue. For convenience, I will list the contents below:
Firmware should only be updated using an Ethernet cable from the
LAN port of the router to the PC/Laptop network (ethernet) plug.
Using WiFi to update a firmware should be avoided when possible.
When updating the firmware, one should always UNCHECK the box to Save Settings.
The default login informtion is:
IP: 192.168.1.1
User: root
Password: admin
The WiFi login is:
SSID: wifix
Password: 12345678
If login problems are experienced, clear the cache in your web browser.
This can normally be done with the browser open, click on the top of the browser,
and press and hold the Ctrl key while pressing the F5 key.
Some browsers require different methods to clear the cache. For instance, in Google Chrome:
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More .
3. Click More tools Clear browsing data.
4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
6. Click Clear data.
Also you can do a google search for "clearing cache in (the name of your web browser)" for instructions.
WiFi Settings:
The default WiFi country code is set to US. This provides 30dBm on 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz has access
to all the channels with TX power from 23dBm to 30dBm depending on the channel.
It is recommended to use the default WiFi settings on the router.

Jim,
Does the WG3526/goldenorb support site-to-site VPN?

This I do not know. Might ask over in the ROOter forum.daniel.hulse wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 6:14 pmJim,

Is there a list of features/specs somewhere, how is this firmware different than r00ter?

I second this.Cheburashka wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 5:35 pmIs there a list of features/specs somewhere, how is this firmware different than r00ter?
Even with this firmware I still have connection issues on Android (Samsung, to be exact). WiFi stays on but Internet stops working and Android switches over to 4G. Is it the WiFi or is it something else?

+1
would also like to know the difference between the WiFix firmware and standard Rooter? Also, who assembles/compiles and maintains the packages. What was the purpose of the variation?

The WiFiX version is based on a newer kernel than the stable release 2017 version of GoldenOrb. This allows a modem to be run in QMI composition.reto.sommer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:27 am+1

It also has support for the EM7565 and other newer and not so commonly used modems.
It includes a custom Firewall page/tab for Custom TTL rules.
A splash page is added with Live Time network stats to better help aim an antenna.
The WiFiX version is compiled and maintained by Dairyman who compiles all GoldenOrb builds.
The new GoldenOrb builds (not yet available from the GoldenOrb download page) are (and will be) compiled with most of the items above, less the Splash page with Live stats.
The new WiFiX versions on the next release will also not have the Splash page. But, we will offer it on the forum to install as a separate package.
